Pizarro, Spanish Conquistador, he sought the
City of Llamas. Now of course we know he found
gold for the monarchy, the City of Llamas
stayed as a mirage unconquered.
The Atacama desert rim yielded sway to a
green belt of less arid territory. Rising
before a plain were a series of pinnacles
above the horizon.
City of Llamas, city of made of gold!
Transitory illusions took that mirage and
implanted that into the heads of those
old world explorers.
Vicuna and Alpaca crossed this city scape made of
myth. High up in the Andes where the springs ruled
over a watershed too close to the desert.
The gold hid in the hides of those beasts, the
gold walked by the conquerers and conquered.
Incas of course dominated the landscapes
civilization. We see them today,
Macha Pichu,
another hidden vessel of a town, like a
ship placed so high up. A soft covering of
gold made to be worn about the back and body.
Llama gold also help representations when
woven into quipu knots counting canal,
land and llama.
Take yourself back to that City of Llamas
and make your own thoughts wander at why
such gold became so obviously forgotten.
